Sámara is District 5 of the canton of Nicoya, in the province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The district covers an area of 109.51 km² and had an estimated population of 3,510 inhabitants in 2011. The district’s seat, also named Sámara, is a small tourist town on Costa Rica’s north Pacific coast. It is one of the most important tourist centers of the Nicoya Peninsula and a key reference point on the Costa Rican Pacific.
