About

About the destination

Santa Teresa is a small town in Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica, about 150 kilometres (93 miles) west of the capital city, San José. Like other coastal villages on the Nicoya Peninsula, Santa Teresa began as a remote fishing village, with agriculture, cattle ranching and small-scale fishing at its core. Today, tourism is the main source of income for most families.
