1. Panama City
Stay
About the destination: Panama City is the capital of Panama. It is a very cosmopolitan city, with a modern and western vibe but proudly displaying its Hispanic and Indigenous roots. In recent years, Panama City has become an important hub of international commerce and banking. It can satisfy every interest since there are various museums, very nice restaurants and lots of places to dance and have fun in the evening outings. Panama City has a Picturesque and interesting Casco Viejo or Old Town filled with wonderful colonial architecture. El Casco Viejo is a charming neighbourhood, ideal for walking around its historic streets with beautifully restored colonial architecture, its churches and squares, its nice cafes and restaurants that mingle well with the remnants of old times. The Cathedral, the Interoceanic Canal museum, the History Museum are around The Plaza de la Independencia, the city’s main square. A lot more churches, museums and historical buildings are found in this area just a few blocks away from each other. The Palacio de las Garzas, where the President of the country lives, is two blocks to the north. On the east side there is Plaza de Francia and the beautiful walkway called Paseo de las Bovedas, with great views of the city. The amazing Panama Canal, considered one of the greatest engineering marvels in the world, is, undoubtedly, the one big draw of all tourists who come to the city. Growing, inviting, exciting, lively and sleepless, Panama City is the most cosmopolitan and vibrant capital in Central America.

2. Valle de Antón
Stay
About the destination: Nestled within the crater of an extinct volcano, El Valle de Antón is a unique and enchanting spot in the heart of Panama. This picture‑postcard town, usually just called El Valle, sits at around 600 metres above sea level, with a cool, refreshing climate that’s a welcome change from the tropical coastal heat. Surrounded by lush rainforest and rugged peaks, it’s a haven for nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone after a peaceful escape. Start off at the weekend market, the lively heart of the town. Local craftspeople sell colourful molas, intricate beadwork, and hand‑woven baskets, while stalls brim with fresh, exotic fruit and veg. From there, head out to explore the area’s natural highlights: walking trails lead to hidden waterfalls, calm hot springs, and mysterious petroglyphs carved by ancient communities. If you’re up for a bit of adventure, El Valle has plenty to offer. Hike La India Dormida – a mountain ridge shaped like a sleeping woman – for sweeping views over the valley. Birdwatchers are spoil’t for choice, with chances to spot everything from the resplendent quetzal to the impressive harpy eagle. Thrill‑seekers can glide through the treetops on a canopy tour or delve into a local cave. Afterwards, ease tired muscles in the thermal baths, said to have healing qualities. Beyond its natural beauty, El Valle de Antón has a rich cultural feel. Locals are warm and welcoming, proud of their heritage, and happy to share stories and traditions. Places to stay range from cosy B&Bs to high‑end mountain lodges, so you can properly sink into the calm of this Panamanian gem. Whether you’re after adventure, downtime, or a bit of both, El Valle de Antón promises an unforgettable experience in the clouds.
