Boquete Panama

Boquete is a small town on the Caldera River in the lush mountain highlands of Panama, about 60 kilometers from the border with Costa Rica. The climate is cooler than in the lowlands, and its scenic setting, pleasant temperatures, and natural surroundings make it a popular destination for Panamanians and visitors from around the world. Known as the “Valley of the Flowers,” Boquete offers the rare chance to see the Resplendent Quetzal or a howler monkey in the wild. Boquete’s floral culture is celebrated with two main fairs: the Festival of Flowers and Coffee, held over two weeks each year in mid-January, and the Orchid Fair in March. Adventure tourism is a major draw as well, with activities such as whitewater rafting, zip lining, ATV and jeep tours, cloud-forest trekking, horseback riding, rock climbing, and deep-water soloing helping to boost Boquete’s popularity among travelers from Europe, the United States, Latin America, and Asia. Nearby Volcán Barú, the highest point in Panama, is famous as one of the easiest places in the world where, on a clear day, you can see both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Plaza Los Establos, located on the main street just south of the central square, is a pleasant shopping area with a variety of small stores to explore during a visit to Boquete.
